The Hunger Games (Hunger Games Series #1)

The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins Excellent book. Also saw the movie. Interesting commentary on current society.

Swim: Why We Love the Water

Swim: Why We Love the Water - Lynn Sherr Excellent book about the history of swimming. Lynn Sherr also talks about swimming the Dardanelles. Very interesting.

The Hunger Pains: A Parody: A Parody - The Harvard Lampoon

The Hunger Pains: A Parody (Harvard Lampoon) - The Harvard Lampoon Interesting parody of the Hunger Games. I'm glad I read the original series first, otherwise the humor wouldn't have made sense. They must have had some permission from the Hunger Games publisher, or else the cover wouldn't look so similar to the real Hunger Games book.

Keeping Merminia (Merminia, #2)

Keeping Merminia (Merminia, #2) - Emm Cole This sounded a little familiar. A group of warriors crossing over land searching for a ring. It was a little jarring at first, switching from 3rd person in the original to alternating 1st person here. After a while I got used to it. I thought the ending was open ended. I wanted to find out what happened to everyone. *Spoiler alert* I didn't realize until the end that Walter was speaking in the prologue. If there isn't going to be a 3rd book, I would have liked to see an epilogue with Walter to round out the story. Otherwise, a good book. This review also appears on Amazon.com.I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review.

Mockingjay (Hunger Games Series #3)

Mockingjay (Hunger Games Series #3) - Suzanne Collins Good conclusion to the series. I thought the ending could nave been different. It will be interesting to see how the movie handles it.

The Charge: Activating the 10 Human Drives That Make You Feel Alive

The Charge: Activating the 10 Human Drives That Make You Feel Alive - Brendon Burchard Good book.Challenging to live at that level.

Catching Fire (Hunger Games Series #2)

Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins Good followup to Hunger Games. I thought the ending was too much of a "to be continued" ending. I was almost expecting Katniss to read a letter from Doc Brown saying that he was alive and well in 1885.

Many Happy Returns: The Story of Henry Bloch, America's Tax Man

Many Happy Returns: The Story of Henry Bloch, America's Tax Man - Thomas M. Bloch Excellent book about the founder of H&R Block.

Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back

Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back - Todd Burpo, Lynn Vincent Great book! I saw the author in person last year. He autographed my copy. It's an amazing story. Some will probably doubt this, but I can't see how. How does a 4-year-old know about any of this? Todd (his dad) says that no one in Imperial, NE has ever said it wasn't true. This supposedly is going to be made into a movie, although I have no more details than that. He also has police protection wherever he goes, because some people want to attack him for this.

The Power (The Secret)

The Power - Rhonda Byrne Good book. I kept thinking of the Beatles. "All you need is love."

The Magic (The Secret) (Secret (Atria))

The Magic - Rhonda Byrne Good book. Like the 30 day format. Focus on gratitude.

The Secret

The Secret - Rhonda Byrne Good book as far as it goes. You do attract what you're thinking about, but you need action to get there.

Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson

Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, A Young Man and Life's Greatest Lesson - Mitch Albom Great book. Really makes you think about life & how you approach it. I still see Morrie paralyzed & unable to move, but still happy & thinking about others. I saw the original story from Nightline. I love the part where Morrie talks about needing someone to "wipe my a**." The best part about this, they weren't trying to write a best seller. They just wanted to pay Morrie's medical expenses. Maybe that's why the book is so successful. It's real.

Wake (Watersong Novel)

Wake - Amanda Hocking Excellent book. A lot of character development in this one, but setting up for book 2 in the series. I've already pre-ordered it.

The Accidental Mermaid

The Accidental Mermaid - Robert E. Thornsberry Good book. As Johnny Carson used to say, "If you buy the premise, you buy the bit." I thought it got a bit busy at times, and tried to take on too many people, but otherwies a good book. The ending suggests that there could be a sequel someday. That would be interesting to read.

I Declare: 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life

I Declare: Proclaiming the Promises of God Over Your Life - Joel Osteen Excellent book again. It's good to focus on possibilities instead of obstacles.
